High School Internships
An exciting opportunity open to girls from Laurel, Hot Springs, and Spring Creek
Each year, a small group of high school girls from the communities served by PAGE are selected to become High School Interns. Our High School Interns apply as rising juniors or seniors. Girls are selected through a competitive process that involves a written application and an interview.
PAGE high school interns are girls with college dreams. They receive mentoring from a team of Duke University students to help them make college choices. The internship includes college campus visits and assistance with the college application process. In turn, the interns provide mentoring for the middle school girls in the program. They serve as local role models and mentors, in ways that create a new sense of possibility for girls: the pathway to college can become my future too.
High School Interns receive a modest stipend and the use of 21st century tools (such as a laptop computer) to help them with college searches and applications. They acquire new leadership skills, form life-changing bonds of friendship with Duke students, and are able to challenge themselves to achieve their dreams. Our High School Interns are an important part of our program’s design and highly valued members of our staff.
